1.91.6: Problem with full screen & interpolation

Post by Le Sage »

Hi guys! :)
I'm not sure I'm posting in the right place, please tell me if I am.
I'm using version 1.91.6fr, & there is a bug that seems to have been here for a while (Windows XP).
I've set up the program so that
 there is a high quality zoom (for zooming in & out)
 when I open a picture file with the Windows Explorer, it opens in full screen
the interpolation seems to be good (high quality, i.e. non closest neighbor) when I open the file, but as soon as I start to zoom in or out, it comes back to closest neighbor (i.e. quick interpolation, & pixelly). Then, if I click F11 to exit full screen, double click on the picture I wanna see in the XnView File Explorer & then click again on full screen (F11), it opens in high quality interpolation, & zooming in or out is done in HQ interpolation (i.e. slow but good quality).
I guess it sounds like a bug :bug: to me, didn't see any mention of it in the archives.
Or did I set up something in the wrong way?
If you want any more information &/or report, please tell me.
Thanks for reading, & congratulations to the single coder for this amazing project. :D

I erased the xnview.ini file & did the same process from scratch, it was still here. It happens on all computers I'm installing XnView on (there are 4 of them).
Do you need any more informations :?:
Thanks again for your future help. :D

Basically, you found the dichotomy: In what's called the browser fullscreen, HQ view is very restricted, in the other "viewer" fullscreen, HQ is used in all zooms. The behavior was settled on during the early 1.9 discussions.

I don't have any workaround for this though.

Hey foxyshadis, thanks for your answer. :)
So if you mean "doesn't work as soon as you zoom in or out" by "very restricted", I guess that's a good description of the problem I found.
So do you mean it's supposed to be a feature, & not a bug?
I guess that if it is in my very own opinion there should be a way to configure it in the options. Or maybe am I the only guy finding this a problem?
Here's a description of my typical behavior: I'm opening lots of JPEG pictures during the day, & they open automatically in fullscreen; I need to zoom on some are sometimes, & I find a bit annoying to have to leave the fullscreen, open the picture again, go fullscreen again & zoom again to be able to have non-closest neighbour zoom. :?
What do you guys think?

So it's been more than 3 months since I created this thread, new versions go out frequently, though no news at all.
Does it mean this problem won't be corrected? :|

My :bug: isn't listed in the changelog of new 1.93 Beta 1 version. :(
Any news about this by any chance?
