(Transmission) A toolbox…

Post by Clo »

:) Hello !

• Currently, the commands of tools¦plug-ins (some also strangely so-named «Filters» still…) are scattered
in several menus, and are not available all at once.
- Moreover, it seems that switching to text-files menus (preferably before my funeral, please…) needs to remove
the current dynamic items from these menus.
• Hence, spending some of my last neurons and some hours, I drew a mock up for a box grouping all tools
and needing a single menu title in View and Browser modes, or a short cut :

• Just an approach, that's only an idea, because in the languages DLLs, there's an issue with these entries which vanish
whether the menus are edited (strongly needed and no more possible).
- It should be nice to begin with such a change as a test step in a prototype version,
in order to accelerate the progression to the mythical text-files…
8) Anything else which is not a pop-up of the main menus is bearable as well…
…for instance buttons in the tool-bar (needs only commands IDs).

So please, could you tell us what is YOUR best solution ?
It's no more possible to use a so bad French language, impossible to correct easily.
- And as far as I saw, no dynamic entries in the TC-menus, for instance…

Having one dialog which points to completely different functions or functionality is no good and would be bad GUI design. The menu is the right thing to use, here.

Or are there any benefits when using a dialog instead of menu items?

Reculer…

:) Hello !
If you are some correction to do, send me them
• We have already sent you a whole template a long while ago, with all strings and menus corrected (as text)…
- Whether we would set a list of errors¦not translated strings and the like, it could take a week to do… :(

• You reset always the same wrong words and typography, i.e :
' …' apostrophes (ugly and totally forbidden in French) instead of guillemots like “…” or «…». Just a tiny example…

• Dynamic entries are not indispensable in menus,
as long as we have a convenient and secure way to choose and start the tools and similar.
- Like you know, it's no longer possible to correct the DLLs for the menus
(and the rest is too time consuming, to remake for each version, it's like to sweep the Sahara desert…).
• I propose that dialogue - or commands for buttons as well - in order to be able to use configurable text menus later
without any issue, supposing you'll do as you promised.
- “Good” or “bad” GUI is totally subjective. That's handy is good, that's inconvenient is not.
- Switching to text files needs to plan steps that ease this change. That's one.
- But whether some other  idea'ld tickle you (let guess…), let be sure that it'ld be the end of my help here.
