No version info in window title
Currently one can see the version info in the window title of XnView.
I suggest to remove the version info for the following reasons:
- When minimized to the taskbar there is little space and the title is truncated. Here, it's more important to see the file currently opened than the version number
- Version number in title bar is non-standard
If really needed, the version number can be seen in menu "? > Info".
Please note that I ask for removing the version number in the final version, only. For test version (alpha, beta, and release candidates) displaying the version number in the window title is very important and a must.

Also, when in viewer mode, it occupies precious space on the taskbar that would otherwise be used for the file name (screenshot). I checked and not a single app of more than 50 we use on our network shows the version number in the title bar.
All happy !

• So, they don't use Total Commander, since it shows the version number and even the user's name… I checked and not a single app of more than 50 we use on our network shows the version number in the title bar.
(the one stated in the licence) or <Unregistered> instead !
- A pretty bone of contention too

• I ought admit that this doesn't bore me a lot, I've several versions of the TC and of XnView installed,
so it's rather useful for me.
• To make everybody happy, what about extra INI entries like :
A.
TitleBarShows = Flag
0 : Only the name of the programme
1 : The name of the programme + version
2 : The short name+path of the current file
3 : The full name+path of the current file
4 : Custom caption
• Possible allowed sums would be :
1+2
1+3
1+4
--------------------------------
B.
TitleBarCaption = Text
- Limited up to n…characters.

Good that you have found this link, XnTriq. I fully agree with what libtest has written.XnTriq wrote:libtest (Some suggestions) wrote:1. @Clo: I don't think that a setting is needed. A setting might be helpful for few power users / testers who have many versions installed, but 99.9% of the users won't need this setting.
I guess that INI entries would be useful, not only for some users,
but also for Pierre when he releases ß-versions,
just a flag to change instead of modify the codes each time.

I think it's important that test versions of XnView are hard-branded, that means that the version branding cannot be removed. When using .ini files it could be changed too easily, not just by the XnView author.ouistiti wrote:I guess that INI entries would be useful, not only for some users,

It's an error, version number should not be here!helmut wrote:Good that you have found this link, XnTriq.
