I've tried ctrl+F12 and have no problem...???helmut wrote:In XnView 1.91.6 we have Ctrl+F12 to switch to English language, but switching back to the native (or last used) language using Ctrl+F12 does not work for me. Is this a bug or a feature?

Bug here

• Like for helmut here !

1. French set as language.
2. Ctrl+F12 switches to English, OK.
3. Ctrl+F12 again does nothing, the interface remains in English.
- I ought change manually in the Options to get French again.
- XP-Pro SP1.

Houps, ok, i have not readed correctly. It's not a bug, Ctrl+F12 is used to reset in english language, i have not changed that...
Pierre.
Make bistable

• Well, so you didn't make that command as bistable, if I understand correctly ?Houps, ok, i have not read correctly. It's not a bug, Ctrl+F12 is used to reset in english language, i have not changed that...
- It's indeed logical and handy that it works in the two directions : Local language —> <– English.
- Please, change it to get this behaviour, TIA !

Nice now !

• It's fixed up in 1.90 - ß3, thanks !
- The command acts as bistable, as expected.

The language toggling works nicely, but I think it's too complicated: If you have all languages installed and happen to press Alt+F12 instead of Ctrl+F12 you are lost and will have to press Alt+F12 many times to get back your native language.
A typical overdesign - not at all simple and even confusing.
But:
Frequent language change is for few users (typically testers), only. By simply deleting all unused languages files (xnview<xx>.dll) and keeping only one or very few language files, one gets the toggling behaviour also with Alt+F12. So no more problems when mixing up Ctrl and Alt.

Really, it doesn't work good here...helmut wrote:The language toggling works nicely...
- change language to english and exit xnview
- start xnview
- press Ctrl+F12
= language is NOT changed
- change the lang. to native in options
- press Ctrl+F12
= language is changed to english
- press Ctrl+F12 again
= language is changed to native lang.
- press Ctrl+F12
= language is changed to english
- restart xnview
- press Ctrl+F12
= language is NOT changed
...
It is OK? I think it's a bug.

As written above it doesn't work very well. But it's o.k. when you remove all unwanted languages and use Alt+F12. That's a simple workaround and should be o.k. for testers.helmut wrote:... but it's too complicated

Perfect here

• Hi !
• It works perfectly here, like you say it's better to keep a few languages only.
- I've French and German, that allows to get :
- Alt+F12 switches the current language to the next available, one by one…
- Ctrl+F12 comes back always to English, and a second time to local, it isn't that complicated…
- That didn't work properly with an image displayed in the recent previous versions,
but with 1.93.1 it works very well, even with an image displayed in View, or even in the Browser.
