EXIF orientation tag of thumbnail image is not reset

As I am just evaluating some programmes capable of lossless rotation I stumbled across this little problem of XnView:

When pictures are rotated (lossless transformations) according to their EXIF orientation the orientation tag in the thumbnails EXIF info (EXIF group IFD1) is not reset. This can be observed within XnView by scrolling all the way down to the thumbnail section of the EXIF tab of the preview pane.

I have not the problem, could you post a sample to test?

Just tested with v1.93.4 and EXIF orientation info of thumbnails is reset like a charm after lossless rotation. Thank you!

As I said before: A great programme with great support! Thanks again and keep up the good work!

related issue still happens with v1.95??

Hello,

I just started using xnview, so I may not have something configured correctly...

My camera does not have orientation support, so I have to manually set the rotation.

case 1: I manually set the exif->camera->orientation field to 6 for my image, and that works. But I can't manually modify the exif-thumbnail-orientation, the field is not modifiable, and the value stays at 1.

case 2: I use the rotate toolbar button. It correctly rotates the image view, and sets exif-camera-orientation field to 6, but it does not change the exif-thumbnail-orientation field. It remains set to 1.

Questions:
1. What is the point of the exif thumbnail orientation field?
2. does xnview use the thumbnail orientation field value? If so, how?
