Controlled IPTC Vocabulary
Apparently there is a movement in the IPTC community to standardize keywords and some other metadata.
Go here to read more about it.
Very interesting and I think applicable to future directions XnView might take in support of IPTC.

Ok, so a hierarchical keyword right?JohnFredC wrote:I probably would not purchase a license. My personal interest isn't in the specific vocabulary itself but rather in the best methods for storing keywords in images, more in line with my post here.

Oh... I love that!xnview wrote:Ok, so a hierarchical keyword right?
My idea at that time was to synchronize something like the categories (cf. "internal DB") with images' metadata (ie: standard and decentralized).
I believe XMP is the way to go, with a standardized way to implement hierarchical categories.

I totally agree,
and XMP is what Vista and Adobe use for their metadata.
In Adobe Bridge you have standard catagories of items, placed
in a hierarchic way, but you can ofcourse edit or add your own ones.
E.g.
I use the catagory "places" ,
with hierarchy countries/cities/streets .
Works prfect for me, Bridge also reads XMP data from Vista OS
into its catagories.
