B1: Tag vs Selected dialog

Post by Dreamer »

"* Tag vs Selected dialog - http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=14585 "

This has not been fixed, it's even worse, sorry...

- tag file 1 and 2
- select file 3
- press ctrl+c
= no dialog is shown - a :bug: ?
- in explorer press ctrl+v
= (selected) file 3 is pasted - a :bug: IMO

For copy/move/delete/rename i ALWAYS use selected files, i think that it's the better behaviour...

Hmm... but I use tag mostly just for copy/move/delete/rename. :(

There should be definitely an option for this IMO.

Tag is almost completely unusable for me with this behaviour. :(

Ok, but it's very dangerous and strange for delete/rename

No, I mean just a new setting in the xnview.ini file to allow this kind of dangerous behavior only for some expert users like Dreamer.
Allow-Tag_del_ren_move_copy=1 into the .ini

Thank Pierre. How you want to change it?

The problem is, that tag cannot be used for copy/move/delete/rename at all now - since at least one file must be selected, always.

I think it should be possible even without ini option, perhaps at least the same dialog as in previous version, without 'don't ask again' option + ini option to always use tagged/selected files for copy/move/delete/rename.

Or...

Use the same dialog WITH 'don't ask again' option also for copy/move/delete/rename, but when using copy/move/delete/rename (only), then show the warning dialog and add ini option to disable this dialog.

If the option "Tagged file list must be cleared:" is set to "After folder change", or "After an operation", it's not so danger.

Anyone else using tag to copy/move/delete/rename? :o

I think it should be possible also without ini option. It would be useful for more than just few advanced users IMO. Users who don't use tag could still use the selected files, without any dialogs.

Oh sorry, thanks!

Dialog will be useful for many users, but what about the ini option for advanced users - to always use selected/tagged files without dialog?

always_use_tagged_files=0/1
always_use_selected_files=0/1

Are there any such ini options in the new rc version?
