On one install of XnView 1.93.4 the Save dialog window opens to view list. On another it shows thumbnails. It doesn't remenber the last view mode used and I can't find the setting to change this.
Is this Windows XP behaviour or XnView's?
I tried comparing the .ini of the two installs but there are many other differences. Is there info available on these .ini settings?
Thanks for any help.

How to set default view for Save dialog

Anyone know how to change it?
This is what I found out by either trial and error or googling:
On the File Open/Save common dialog, thumbnails are shown by default for the My Pictures folder and subfolders.
This happens irrespective of what type of view you set on Explorer. I.e. You might have set the view of My Pictures to Tiles and that view be remembered next time you visit it but in the Open/Save dialog the view will still be Thumbnails.
Thumbnails aren't shown for any other folders. Default is list view.
I have been unable to customize this behaviour. Things I have tried and didn't work:
1. Folder properties -> Customize tab
2. Explorer -> Tools-> Folder Options-> View -> Apply (view) to All Folders
3. Close Open/Save File dialog while pressing Ctrl
4. HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags reset&resize
What might work:
1. Using a common dialog shareware extender such as Direct Folders or Filebox eXtender.
2. Your idea here...
Conclusion:
If you cannot fight them join with them, meaning...
If this thumbnail view is undesirable because the folder is too big or another reason move it out of the My Images parent folder.
If you want the thumbnail view when saving (XnView Open file already has a special thumbnail field) then you have to save to My Pictures or a folder under it.
Note that you can define change/rename/relocate the My Pictures special folder.
