Cut + Paste in XnView categories = missing files
I made a folder in categories and placed some images in it and made a different folder and decided id cut a few of the images from the old folder and paste them in the new one. When this happened it appeard as if everything went fine only the images didnt paste into the new category. When i tried to find these images, in their actual location, they were gone. I cant even find them in a search. A ghost text file exists where the images were in the old category folder but when i try to open it, it said the file was not at its original location. Where did they go? I really need help here because i was digitally painting these images and now they're gone!

You have selected your category, select your picture file, cut, select another category, paste. Is that?
Pierre.
Yeah i did that and my pictures disappeared, not only from the previous catogory but also from their actual location on my hard-drive. The paste process went through 100% and they didnt appear in the recycling bin so they have to be somewhere i think, though i wouldnt know where to look.
From what it looks like though, since the categories are withint the DB of the program and not a folder in an external location, the program ate my pictures
I had thought when you put something in a category it made a shortcut of the file and put it somewhere else. Im not a programmer though so didnt think the system would be more complex but after reading around in the forum im pretty positive my pictures are floating around somewhere inside the program or maybe cache and will be deleted any day now.
Maybe im wrong?? And my pictures have hope?? Maybe?!?!?

Strange, for me Cut is greyed if you are in a category.Anonymous wrote:Yeah i did that and my pictures disappeared, not only from the previous catogory but also from their actual location on my hard-drive.
