Sort by Type problems

Post by tannim »

Sort by type only works when you allow XnView to scan the headers before you sort. Otherwise it just sorts them by name.

Sort by type also only works with picture type files. With or without header scanning turned on, "by type" sorting does not work on non-image files such as txt, doc, html, mpg, etc.

Is it possible just to have it sort the extension types alphabeticly and not worry about scanning headers when sorting by type? It seems that would be much faster.

I would like to use XnView as my main file manager because I feel a filemanager needs to be agood picture viewer too.

Why don't you use sort by extension?

That DOES work but there needs to be a column for sort by Extension. I never knew there was an extension sort because it was not one of the columns. "Type" in most programs means extension.

Could you add the Extension column in the next version?
