browsing: sometimes the next pic takes longer-> info plea

Post by mostly harmless »

Sometimes when browsing in picture view or full screen displaying the next file take a little longer. That might be the case for PDF files or if the CPU is busy.

Then I never know if anything is going to happen. Gets me a bit nervous ;)

I would like to have some kind of feedback if XnView "intends" reacting in any way.

Like: "opening next file - progress [XXXXXXXXXXXX...........70%.]"

That is supposed to be a graphical* progress bar + some info what operation is processed.

Transparent grey - nothing fancy.

Position: center of screen or top/bottom left/middle/right.

If it`s not easy or impossible for XnView to foresee when the next file will be displayed then it would be good to have at least the message that it is busy fullfilling the user`s wish.
Feeback like that may prevent frustration to some extend I guess.
And maybe something sould be animated to suggest XnView is working.

I know there already is a progress bar but most of the time when waiting there is no movement there. Only short before the next file is displayed does any progress happen there.

My old copy of ACDSee does that, it prefetches the next file and displays on the status bar how quickly its loaded it.
