Search: show file path

Post by thire »

it would be cool to be able to see the containing folder after doning a search: eg: Xnview finds 3 files with the same name and I wnt to know where they are! Yes, the tooltip when the mouse is over the file shows it, but perhaps you could add a column in the details.

Yes, and perhaps needed if i add recursive browsing.

I want to refresh this old thread instead of starting a new one ...

The current version of XnView has now "recursive browsing", but IMHO not display of the containing folder. Total Commander use the Status bar for displaying the current folder in that kind of file-display.

Is there a chance to add the function?

A sort of a workaround: Hover your mouse onto the thumbnail and wait a bit to see the tooltip. In the tooltip you will see the path of the file.

Sure enough, this workaround is not adequate to an additional column with path in detail view. or similar.

Hovering would not display containing folder.
To find the containing folder, one needs to open it (right click: open containing containg folder)
Very tedious.

You can add the folder info to the tooltip. Go to Options -> Browser and add <Directory> to the tooltip field.

Also, since version 1.97.5 you can sort the files by Folder. This is already a big improvement for me, but I still would like to see the path in it's own column.

I have a long list of files, but it is not showing the containing folder by hovering the mouse, no matter what you do in Options (as you said)
Just try to show a whole tree structure,(use command Show files in Subfolders) all files, you will be lost since it does not support sorting by containing folder
This is quite annoying, I agree.
