Usability: Waitcursor and progress bar not shown always

Post by helmut »

When using XnView, the user accesses various media with differening speed: Hard disk, memory cards, virtual disks via USB cable. Some of the media is slow and thus the actions applied are slow. For many actions, XnView shows a wait cursor and or displayes the progress in the statusbar. There's still some actions which provide no feedback while processing.

- Copy + Paste:
When copying and pasting files in the same directory, XnView does nothing for a while. Then the progress bar occurs which mainly indicates that the thumbnails for the new files are built.

- Deletion
When deleting file there's no user feedback.

- Deleting entries (folders) in the thumbnail cache
When deleting entries in the thumbnail cache, XnView remains idle for a while. Again there's no user feedback.

I'm quite sure that there are more actions...
