Drag & Drop of images from Firefox 3.0.1 to XnView 1.93.6 doesn't work, while Drag & Drop to Windows-Explorer works without problems.
This issue is new since the FF3 release, it worked well in FF2. It could also be seen as a bug from FF3 itselve (see link below), but there should be another method to catch the Drag & Drop files because it works very nice to drop them to Windows-Explorer.
Bugzilla reports about similar problem with other applications on FF's-Bugtracking system: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323555
System: Windows XP SP2, FF3
Drag & Drop with Firefox 3.0.1

What is faulty ?

• I can confirm. However, I'm not sure that it's only XnView related, that FF 3.0 seems pretty buggy…Drag & Drop of images from Firefox 3.0.1 to XnView 1.93.6 doesn't work…

FF3 Drag & Drop
Sure, but drag & drop to Windows-Explorer works fine. That's why I think there shoud be another (perhaps better) solution to catch the Drag & Drop target Action.
will that ever be fixed?
It's been a while then and many versions of Xnview went by...
I am still wondering why we can't use it correctly. I am quite fed up to call up windows explorer from Xnview to allow copying of a few images to a particular folder.
Firefox 3 brought up a more "intelligent" drag&drop feat with the picture/text getting transparent in the on your cursor while you displace it. Win Explorer has no trouble at all handling it so I am guessing Xnview and any other program does it too. When I see all the functions there are in Xnview to ease my life and speed all the process (batch renaming/converting) it pains me to no end that I have to resort to such round about methods.

I have no problems dragging and dropping with xnview and firefox 3 because i use this:
dragdropupload :: Firefox Add-ons
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2190

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2190
I have the same problem with Fireforx 3 on Vista 64bit. If i drag'n'rop an image from the browser to the desktop all transparency is lost. If i save it via right-click the transparency is still there.
So i think it's a Ff bug for now.
Edit: ok, seem like it's not:

Taken from: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=440911cf_hdrop was removed completely in Fx3 as it was assumed most apps had upgraded to newer clipboard formats. But it turns out a number apps still rely on it in a few cases. Dragging a file into the main window of Photoshop is probably the best example.
Get the bugs fixed, THEN start adding features. It sucks, but someone has to do it.
