I often find that when I double-click an image file in Windows Explorer to open it in XnView, and then click the Next button, the image displayed isn't the one I'm expecting. I've found that the Next/Previous navigation is controlled by the sort order in XnView's own browser, which has to be changed separately.
What I'd like to do is configure XnView to integrate its sort order with that of Windows Explorer, the same way that the built-in Windows Picture and Fax Viewer does. In other words, I want XnView to automatically detect and use the same sort order as the Explorer folder it's launched from. Is there a way to do this?
Automatically sort the same way as Explorer?

• Explorer ? What is it ?

• Well, that's a well known issue, and I reported that to Pierre (the Author) ages ago about starting the files
from Total Commander, others from their favourite file managers.
- As a workaround, a “Sort by…” button+list in View mode has been suggested too, but not implemented (yet).
- Like you, I would prefer that XnView detects the current sorting mode, from the Explorer (yuk!)
and from the alternative (better) file managers.
- In theory, that might be possible, i.e. with TC which has a text INI file where that is stated.
With Explorer…

- Anyway, I support !

Any update on this? I'm using xnview to replace picture viewer launching it from Explorer and it would be nice to have this feature.
