Canvas size with "vertical" images

Hi all, excuse me in advance for my poor english!
I have a problem with canvas resize: when I resize the canvas of horizontal images (W>H), i have no problems, the result is a nice black border, but when i try to resize the canvas of "vertical" images (W<H) it just resize the image (no black border appears).
Any suggestion?

Which values do you use in canvas resize?

The image is 683*1024 pixel, i set the canvas size 753*1094 with black background (I want to create a 70px black border to the image). It doesn't resize the canvas, but it resize the image. This happens only with "vertical" images, with "horizontal" images all is perfect.

I can't confirm, i have a black border after canvas resize
