Addons for scanned documents

Post by alumotermic »

It would be lovely to provide much more support for editing and correcting scanned text documents...
I'd like to find in a new version of your software a straighten text function (equivalent to the "Deskew" filter from Gimp), a dust and hare remover (accidentally provided by the scanner glass :D), and a better conversion to B&W of color and gray scale scanned documents.

Except this minor adjustments you are providing a great software for all the people out there, thanks!

PS. It would also be interesting to find a way to make the plugins from other programs (like Gimp) compatible with your program.

There's de-skewing for grey scale images available in Image > Rotate > De-Skew...". But there's no function for automatically removing dust or hair.

yes, there is a de-skew function but it isn't very automatic :D since it require to manually select a horizontal line in the picture... In my previous post I was suggesting for a fully automatic function suitable for use in batch processing of large amounts of images (like a scanned book with, let say, 500 pages or more).

Auto deskew

Post by dominique »

Deskew is not easy to perform automatically. It depends of the document content.
Perhaps you can add options like :
- align a selected fixed line in image (equal patern in each document)
- align text
- align document borders
But it won't be perfect for each document excepted if you scan nice A4 documents.
