Step by step XnView has more and more possibles customizations (Users Options), this is great but for a neophyte user (and even an expert), this can be sometimes confusing.
Then it would be very interesting and especially useful to have an explanation on each XnView options (into the Options menu panel, maybe by pressing the F1 key ? - or tooltips ? ).
Or maybe, it would be easier to only have a short explanation page for each Options per "options Tabs" in a first time ?

Yes, I second that. XnView's options are quite mighty but often the short sentences leave the user in the dark what the option does.
A longer while back Xyzzy has created a FAQ Options' descriptions for 1.82. That FAQ should be updated and then the contents should be integrated into XnView. A tooltip help for immediate assistence would be good (normally I don't like tooltips because they often show up when you don't want them, but here they would be helpful).

perhaps have the hover context description on each option?
and not harping on the help file but alot of the reference pages in it have empty tables with headers for wha you're looking for with no description information (rather have the mighty software than the mighty helpfile
)
example search for "subfolder" in the help file, returns 1 result, a long table with only 1 descriptor in it.
