Sort by EXIF date

Post by ptupper »

When I sort by EXIF Date in the browser view it appears like the sort uses camera model first then EXIF date. However, this "sort by EXIF date" error does not happen when performing a batch rename.

Could you post a screenshot of 'thumb + detail' view with EXIF date taken in labels?

BUG in EXIF date sort

Post by ptupper »

When I changed to the 'thumb + detail' view the files were properly sorted by EXIF date and when I changed back to 'details' the sort order remained. So I closed/opened the program and still no change. I will do this again after a complete exit, reboot and 'cleaning' to confirm.

Meanwhile, I tried another folder using the same sort criteria... ascending by EXIF date which I assume to be date taken or date digitized and got the same results. The EXIF date sort appears to work in 'detail' view until you look closer. Then after using 'thumb + detail' view the EXIF date sort works correctly. I confirmed by trying different sorts and returning to the EXIF date sort which still works.

I use the following 'hover' info:
<Filename>, <Size> bytes, <Modified>
<Format>
<Width>x<Height>, <Date>, <Date>

Here is another folder before:
http://cid-d31fec6f55e46d9c.skydrive.li ... before.jpg

and after:
http://cid-d31fec6f55e46d9c.skydrive.li ... _after.jpg

p.s. It would be nice to have EXIF date as an option under 'View >> Columns >>' and others too.

@ptupper: Please “disable HTML in this post”, if your message contains <date format variables>, or enclose the text in [code] tags.

I was showing the meta data I use in the browser view...
...Tools >> Options >> Browser >>

[<Filename With Ext>, <Size> bytes, <Modified Date>
<Format>
<Width>x<Height>, <Date Digitized [Y-m-d_H-M-S]>, <Date Taken [Y-m-d_H-M-S]>]
