Thumbnail issue with .mov files

Post by tsehov »

I have plenty of video clips in quicktime format (.mov) and XnView shows thumbnails properly in most cases but there are also a few files that XnView does not show correctly (it shows only icon instead of thumbnail picture).

I have tried several other applications and most of them show also these particular files properly (IrfanView, Brennig's,Cam2pc,newer versions of ACDSee,cPicture etc.).

I have the latest Quicktime Alternative installed so there should be all the codecs needed.

Thank You if YOu can help me.

Could you send me a sample, please?

I tried to upload a file to couple of my (free) web page servers but even the smallest file was too big. It is almost 15MB.

If You could give me some e-mail address I could send it to You via dropload.com.

I did some further investigations about this matter and I noticed that all those particular .mov -files (that do not show up properly as thumbnails in XnView) have been one way or another edited with 'QuickTime Pro' or 'Minolta Dimage Viewer's 'video editor' (which also uses QT codecs).

The one I sent to You the other day has been edited (actually only merged two video clips into one) with QT Pro.

I also tested following thing: to open a .mov -file with 'Minolta Dimage Viewer' and do nothing to it but only save it with another name. And yes, while the original file was seen in thumbnail (with XnView) the 'renamed' one was not.

I hope this helps You with this issue.
