I've got a lot of images to which I've added labels by right-clicking on the file in Windows XP, choosing 'Properties', selecting the 'Summary' tab, then entering values in the 'Title:', 'Subject:' and 'Author:' fields. I can display these labels in XnView (for example in a Thumbnail Label) by using <XPTitle>, <XPAuthor> & <XPSubject>.
If I right-click on a thumbnail and choose 'Properties' though, they seem to just be displayed as numbers, something like:
XPTitle : 77
XPAuthor : 77
XPSubject : 76
rather than displaying the actual text those fields contain. This also seems to affect the 'Search...' facility. If I search for EXIF data containing some of my text labels the images are not found. If I instead search for 76 or 77 (using the example above) those images are found.
Incidentally, it would be really handy if these particular fields appeared on the drop-down list of searchable EXIF fields.
Thanks

Perhaps these fields are in unicode, could you send me a sample?

Re: Incorrect EXIF Data Displayed
Ah OK, that could be it. I've posted an example file here:xnview wrote:Perhaps these fields are in unicode, could you send me a sample?

where I've added some text to the five fields available in XP Properties. In XnView Properties these show up as:
XPTitle : 84
XPComment : 83
XPAuthor : 65
XPKeywords : 83
XPSubject : 83
Though if you use something like <XPSubject> in a thumbnail label the text is displayed correctly.

No, I'm using 1.95.4. Does 1.96 beta have a fix that might address this problem?xnview wrote:Ok, do you have tried the beta 1.96?
