How do I convert one single graphics file? (Newbie)

Post by Hans L »

This is not the first time. I want to use an app for the first time, and I want to do one of the basic functions of the app, and I can't figure out how to do it.

In this case, I want to convert a tif file to a jpeg file or similar. I see I cannot add an attachment here, so let me tell you that I am in the browser (tab), and the file I want to convert is in the Preview area. I find the Convert icon, which turns out to be the batch conversion icon. I can't find a place where it says (in essence): convert the file you have in the Preview area to this format!

Sorry, either I am dumb as dirt or the this function is so easy to do that the author did not even bother to show how it should be done :-)

Grateful for help!

Welcome, Hans :-)
  1. Open the image by double-clicking on the thumbnail or the preview.
  2. Go to Save as... or Export... in the File menu.

Well, that was painless. Clicking on the preview was the step I did not get.

Thank you!

A single click on the thumbnail will show it in the preview pane. A double click on the thumbnail will open it in full view mode.

You can also use the batch conversion option you stumbled on. Batch conversion will work on whatever thumbnails you currently have selected. If you select 5 at once, it'll work on those 5. If you only have one selected, then it'll just convert that one. Just because batch convert -can- convert many at once, doesn't men that you -have- to convert several at once.
