adapt colour palette for bmp

Hi,

for my application, I need a bmp with a special, defined color palette.

Is there a way to (automatically) open a bmp and adapt its palette to the one required in my application?

I saw that I can open the palette editor and load a palette, but then the picture looks completely changed (colours mixed up). That's not what I need.

It would be nice if XnView could load an arbitrary Look-up table and apply its LUT to the selected image,
preferably for 8-bit grayscale or 8-bit color images (BMP)
I am not shure how this should work for 24 bit RBG images.

Ideally I would like to apply this LUT also in the VIEW mode, without changing anything
in the image itself.
