Urgent Help Needed for ITPC Editing!
Hi,
I have an urgent problem! I need to input IPTC data. I have done this before, with no problems. Now, however, something has gone wrong. When I input, for instance, "headline" and then "write", it is deleted. I have gone through all the different options of "write" for the IPTC info, and it won't work.
I am using Windows XP, XnView version 1.96. I have also taken a few hours looking through the forums, and have not seen this particular problem. I have also installed/uninstalled and then downloaded a new version of XnView, but still the problem persists.
The files are .jpg and not write protected or read only.
I am quite lost, please help!!

Hello,
? Maybe try to do:
Ctrl+i to open IPTC window, then uncheck the item "Update or Create XMP", and try again...

Hi,
Well, I tried that, but it doesn't let me! In other words, the box with the check mark and the line "update or create XMP" remains grey or whatever colour, but I can't change it.
Please tell me more!
And thanks!
Chris

It was just to see, because it was an "old" bug.chrisszab wrote:...Please tell me more!...
But now, unfortunately, i have not any idea of your problem.
Have you also tried with some others jpg files from an other camera or without embedded metadata ?
So wait and see the Pierre answer...

Re: Urgent Help Needed for ITPC Editing!
chrisszab, is there a file called Xmp.dll in the AddOn subfolder of your XnView installation?chrisszab wrote:Well, I tried that, but it doesn't let me! In other words, the box with the check mark and the line "update or create XMP" remains grey or whatever colour, but I can't change it.

Re: Urgent Help Needed for ITPC Editing!
No, there isn't. I also looked at the other viewtopic. So that means I need to get the XMP.dll file. Could you tell me how to do that? Sorry, I'm not a computer developer, only an end-user!XnTriq wrote: chrisszab, is there a file called Xmp.dll in the AddOn subfolder of your XnView installation?XMP not written to JPG files?
Thanks in advance,

Re: Urgent Help Needed for ITPC Editing!
OK, I see now...but unfortunately this file (XMP.dll) is missing even inside the full zip one :...I have also installed/uninstalled and then downloaded a new version of XnView, but still the problem persists...

It's a bug for me, because these functions (IPTC edit functions - crtl+i) should work even without this dll (like in the past, except of course for the "Update or Create XMP" functionality).
FI: here is the full one:
http://www.xnview.com/en/downloadwin32.html
XnView v1.96 Complete version (Some Plugins/Addons & NConvert, ShellEx, Media Detector)
So, for the moment, you can just create an empty Xmp.dll file into this folder( XnView\AddOn\ ), then goto IPTC edit window (crtl+i) and uncheck the "Update or Create XMP" box, then try again to add some IPTC keywords...
PS:That solution works here for me.

Re: Urgent Help Needed for ITPC Editing!

• I have the xmp.dll here - 488 KiB - Oct. 07.2008.
- If you think it could do the trick, I would place it now on my site as a RAR archive.

Re: Urgent Help Needed for ITPC Editing!
Well, I AM having more problems. This is weird. Basically, sometimes I edit the IPTC data and it is all fine. Then, on another photo, it doesn't work. This is all the same batch, taken at the same time etc.
What shall I do?
Cheers,
Chris
