Pictures remaining in "memory"

Post by francisco »

Hi everybody,
I'd like to know how to eliminate old-resident images. After opening many pictures, even if they are deleted later on, still when executing XN VIEW there are many images "remaining" that you can see. Is there any folder where the files you open are remaining and you can eliminate???.
Many thanks in advance,
F

[ Version 1.95.4 ] More specifically, whenever a thumbnail is double clicked & opens as a large image [ not full screen ], it seems to be permanently stored, so too much double-clicking chews up memory [ until you run out ! ] If you minimise the thumbnail view, you will see all the large images previously opened in this way. They then can be then individually deleted to recover memory. Note this doesn't happen when scrolling through full size images - only the first image which was double- clicked is stored.

I installed a ' Better Memory Meter' to keep a check on the problem.

ps great program !!

Do you have tabs disabled? If so then the following option is good to enable:
Options>View>[x]Only one window viewed opened
(There can be many open images without this)
I guess your talking about thumbnails also, so these options should help:
<F5> refresh thumbnails
Menu>View>rebuild thumbnails

Many thanks Marsh - This is the fix I wanted - I guess the option description ' Only one window viewed opened' is a bit cryptic, so I missed it.

Fancisco seems to be talking about Thumbnail cache maintenance. Since mine is >500 M, I run cache cleanup as an overnight job - oh well !
