1 2 4 ... thumbnails for each video file

I think i have a great idea to add to XnView
I hope you guys like it.

Now, each video file is shown by 1 thumbnail but when having many video files that "look" the same, like the simpsons, family videos etc ... it is hard to see difference between all thumbnails that contain the same "people"
And thus the information that is given by the single thumbnail is kinda lost or useless.

My idea is to add an option to XnView to add a view pane that shows video files in a row of thumbnails
Each row would contain images for 1 video file and thus showing some kind of "preview in multiple shots"

A variant to this could be like the 4 thumbnails for directory view (as is a great idea too btw )
The same could be implemented for video thumbnails
Thus showing 1 / 2 / 4 or even more thumbnails of each video file in 1 larger thumbnail that form a matrix.

Ofcourse it would be great if size of thumbnails and size of sets-per-video-file could be custumized


I think it would add great value to the program as video browsing would be way more easy.

How does my idea sound guys?
Anyone that likes it?

• In the browser, look at the Create Menu >> Video Thumb nail Gallery.
- That item is greyed out with images in the browser, but turns valid as soon as you have a displayed video…

• In the forum here, you could find a big discussion about this topic, I even proposed another GUI (mock-up). Please, give a glance HERE (3 pages…)

yes no, I think I did not state my idea very well.

the idea is that the "video-story-board" (as they call it on other websites) is clickable and not dead meat like a "thumbnail galery"

the idea is to use it for finding videofiles just by looking at the "story-lines" as each row would give a quick view of each movie file

I dont know if the "disk explorer" hass clickable rows, but i'll test it

It would be great if XnView hass the same functionality as XnView RULEZZZ
And Im sure the programmers of XnView can even make it look much better with more customisations

update: DiskExplorer does not support clickable "storyboards"

so all my hope is to you guys of XnView

I think this is a great idea. I completely agree that trying to identify different videos in the same series is very hard currently and this storyboard view could really help.
