Hello! Being a new user, I hope, I am doing this right.
Question: In my new XnView v. 1.96 under Menus > Image > Edit ColorMap is greyed out. Why?

• It's greyed out when the current image is :
- Greyscale,
- Contains more than 256 colours (24-32 BPP).

Some addition:
The menu entry is only available if your image is an image with a colour palette. Colour palette images have up to 256 different colours, each colour (value) stored in the image's colour palette.
In order to convert a non-colour palette image (e.g. true colour or grey scale) to a colour palette image you use "Image > Convert to colours..." and then choose the number of colours (256 recommended). Please note that reducing an image to 256 different colours often results in colour distortions and visible gradiations.
