Just a quick question, I'm sure it's supported but I wanted to make sure.
I scan 16 bit per channel TIFs in to my PC from my UMAX Mirage IIse scanner and use XNView to straight, crop and adjust the images. Some images need to be joined together to make a panarama and I've been using Photoshop CS2 for that. I recently downloaded GIMP to try it out and when I load my images into GIMP it says it doesn't support 16 bit channel images and converts it to 8 bit channels.
Photoshop keeps the 16 bits per channel. Does XNView support 16 bits per channel or does it convert the images to 8 bits per channel without telling the user?

I suppose that 12bits raw files are read the same way. Am I right ?xnview wrote:16bits per channel are converted into 8bits
