• Hi!

3.) In Browser, select a folder in the file list.
4.) Choose menu "Edit > Describe…" …
… and the entry is grayed in the menu :

"Edit > Describe" works in the file list, only (your above screenshot shows the tree list). This is why you have to activate an option in step 1 & 2.

Why not ?

• Folders are shown in thumbnails here too, and I guess that selecting the folder in the tree might work too IMHO…

Right, this would make the concept "Description for folders" more complete. Also, when clicking on a folder in the tree pane, the description might appear in the status bar.

XN View appears to use two sqlite databases, one in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\XnView called category.db which seems to hold all the category information, and what categories are assigned to which images, and the other in C:\Program Files\XnView\cache called XNView.db which appears to hold folder location, and the rating and colour information for each image.

Is it possible to move these databases to a network location i.e. L:\XNview\databases, and point XNview at this location?

Edit

I have managed to move the category.db by changing the option in System integration "Folder used for other files" to Custom, and then selecting the path I require. This inserts a REG_SZ key called CustomIniPathFolder into HKCU\Software\Xnview\Start which contaains the Custom Path.

Is there another keyword for the XNView.db?
