Copy and Paste

Post by willgoss »

I am slowly getting the copy and paste options straight....

It seems that if I copy the current selected picture and then paste into GIMP or PSP-X2 it tells me the clipboard is empty.....but copying from the Opened Image does work....

I also realize that I can paste into XnView only through the clipboard but not when in the Browser, where I must save then close, getting back to the Browser....

Seems a little backwards as compared to the old Faststone approach....

When in Browser mode you work with files. Only in image view mode, you work with image contents. So by default you copy and paste files in the XnView browser and copy and paste image contents in the image view mode.

If you want to force copying the image contents in the XnView browser you can use menu "Edit > Copy image data" or Strg+Shift+C. And if you want to paste image contents in the XnView browser, you use "Edit > Import Clipboard" or Strg+Shift+V.

The XnView approach is different, but once you understand it it's intuitive, I think.
