Putting advice in 'format cannot be determined' dialog.

Post by marsh »

This dialog remains a top forum question. Some kind of short hint on the dialog itself might help serve as a guide:

Current:
Warning: Format of the file <some.file> could not be determined.

Proposed:
Info: Format of the file <some.file> could not be determined.
----------------
For display of less common images, the following option is available:
Options>General>[x]Display all image file types

Other related options:
Options>General>Keyboard/Mouse>Open action (browser)

:) Hello B. !

• I support, and I would like also a line like :
« Please, try to add this file-type in the Options >> File List (active direct link)… »
- What do you think ?
• Indeed, the indications Include - Exclude must finally be added close to the related fields as captions,
strings requested for ages and still missing :|

I agree with all those points. This dialog confronts new users most, so it would be an ideal place to experiment with short explanations (or direct option links).

I think the dialog should be much more informative than that!

Would be good if the information "For display of less common format, the following option is available:" was only shown when the option is not active, yet.
