illegal operation message

Hi, All,

I have used and enjoyed XnView for several years without any problems or issues. A few days ago, using one of the most recent versions, after making a number of contact sheets and storing them in separate folders, I started getting the "This program has performed an illegal operation and will shut down" window. Details list a page fault. At first it only happened when I clicked on the folder, or an image in it that would sometimes launch the app with that image, then, when hitting the 'browser' button, the 'illegal operation' msg would appear.

I uninstalled and reinstalled several times with the most recent version as well as previous versions and the 'illegal operation' msg now appears when I simply try to launch the app. I downloaded some other viewers to see if they would recognize the images and folders, and they did. Oddly, when I clicked on "use other editor" in Picasa, XnView would pop up as that other editor, but when I hit 'browser' the 'illegal operation' shows up again.

Any suggestions?
