I want to add text to some of my pictures that have been scanned with high resolution, typically 15-20 megapixels, but the text becomes so tiny that it is nearly invisible. I need to zoom in by e.g. a factor of 10 in order to see it.
The problem, it seems, is that the text font is set in a fixed number of pixels, and not relative to the size of the image.
This has the unfortunate consequence that even if I increase the font size to 72, the letters will appear no larger than about 5mm if I print the picture on 15x10cm photo paper. So I have no way of inserting large character text on a high resolution image.
If I resize the picture to e.g. 1 megapixel, the text appears much larger.
I think this is an unfortunate situation for XnView, and I hope not intended.
I therefore request that font size should be displayed relative to the displayed size of an image, independent of the number of pixels in the image.
