.sid file cannot be determined--??

Post by Check2503 »

I sure hope I can get some help!

I have downloaded some mrSid files. Some I can open via XnView and others I cannot. I don't quite understand why only some. I have version 1.97 with the plug-ins. The error message is:

Format of the file <xxxxxx.sid> could not be determined For display of less common format, the following option is available: Options>General>[x] Display all image file types"

This is already marked in my options.

Is there any help for me?

Sincerely,
Hope

:) Hello ! Welcome aboard !

*.sid files are normally supported. Unfortunately, I don't hold any, so I can't check your issue…
- Just for the record : The needed plug-in XMrSid.dll - 1 MiB must be set in the …\Plugins\ sub-folder.

- Please, could you give a link (tomorow!) in order to get a sample ? TIA !

 Kind regards,
Claude

Thanks for your reply!

I am not quite sure what I am supposed to check to make sure of this:
"Just for the record : The needed plug-in XMrSid.dll - 1 MiB must be set in the …\Plugins\ sub-folder."
If you can guide me, I would GREATLY appreciate it!

I got the file from NewEnglandAncestors.com and have it saved to my computer. I don't see a way to attach the file on here, but I could be overlooking it. I could send it to your email address.

Sincerely,
Hope

You must copy XMrSid.dll in the Plugins folder of XnView

I do have all of the plug-ins including the XMrSid.dll file in my plug-ins folder. If I am to copy it...copy it to where??

I do not know how to modify it as Claude suggested.

:) Hello !

• Prior, please check if the plug-in is really in the Plugins folder ! In Info Menu >> Plugins… you might get it listed in the box.
2. Check if you are using the right <xnview.ini>, according to the Options >> System Integration…
3. Supposing that the two above are OK : In Option >> File list add the SID on the include field. Please glance THIS PAGE.

• And please, tell us which OS you are using…

Thanks for the reply!! If and when you do, I would greatly appreciate if someone would let me know, or reply on this board. I don't know how else I would find out.

You have been awesome with your help, Pierre!
