Try logging out of Windows or rebooting,
might be a problem with the icon cache in Windows.

Think Pierre has made changes in the last RCs. Do file associations work for other people? Perhaps people on various platforms can check and post here.

As of RC4, I've used "The most used" function and JPEG2000 to associate XnView with my files and have had no problems.

Just tried on Windows XP SP2, here it works o.k..

For testing I have:
1 - Started XnView
2 - Associated the file format "GIF" in Tools > Options, category "Associations")
3 - Closed options and restarted XnView.
4 - Looked in browser whether GIF symbol of XnView appears.
5 - Selected GIF file and pressed "F3" to open it with the associated program.

Then I've checked the correct removal of the association:
1 - Removed the association, again, by unchecking GIF in "Associations".
2 - Restarted XnView.
3 - Looked in browser whether former GIF symbol (MS PhotoEditor) appears
4 - Selected GIF file an pressed "F3" to see whether it opens with the former application.

As written above this all worked o.k. on Windows XP SP2.
