Slow viewing on Windows 7 with RAW images

Post by Rankio »

Windows 7 x64
Xnview 1.97.2
JPG+NEF (Nikon D700) in same folder

While scrolling through the images within the folder, it will take up to 10 seconds to view the next time which would be the NEF.

Under Tools, Options, Read/Write, Read, Camera RAW: I have everything unchecked. The behavior does not change with any combination. Currently I have to separate the JPGs and the NEFs from each other (they keep fighting) to view them in a timely fashion. In Windows XP x86 I never had this problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There are multiple settings to consider:
Options... View>[Misc]>Camera RAW
Options... Browser>Preview>Camera RAW
Options... General>Read/Write>[Read]>Camera RAW

I had not changed and obviously forgot about those options. Once set to Thumbnail, the images scrolled fine.

Thank you for the help.
