Hello again,
Look at the below image showing a combination of different well-known Windows programs. They all support viewing common image formats. I used the same image file throughout just to see what the display was like:
XnView win - prefixes the program name before closing the filename with brackets "[ ]"
XnView MP - just shows the program name only
Like in Foobar2000, it would be nice if in the future xnview (XnView MP) we could have the ability to customize this taskbar title.
Foobar2000 does it nicely, look I show you:
For XnView (MP) I propose:
%Program%
%Version%
%Build%
%Filename%
%fileExt%
%File path%
And between these codes a user could optionally leave a space of add any of the following separtors: - / = | > *
---------------------------
I think this Option should be 'hidden' so that majority users do not tamper with this. I think this feature, if added, could be places in Options>Interface under XnView MP in the future.
This is not an important feature but one I would still like to see in a future XnView. Thanks for reading.
Ability to edit text to file Window title

Re: Ability to edit text to file Window title
I did not know this feature already existed in XnView 1.98 I've been previously using older XnView 1.96
In XnView 1.98 it's in the Options>View ('title bar') setting
Right, so for a future XnView MP, this same setting (custom Window title-bar) must go in the XnView MP Settings>Interface as the best location IMO
Just a thought for the future.

Re: Ability to edit text to file Window title
budz,
That reminds me of how I'm still waiting for the branched menu off Edit that brings up such things as the 'Edit IPTC Information' window in the Win32 build to "arrive in MP," so to speak. Until I see it, I'll consider the MPs not quite as useful and up-to-date as the "mama binary," Win32, whatever version you care to mention of either.
If Pierre and the MP team are aiming something close to "sameware" (aka grandma-ware) with the MP builds across the board, with improvements commensurate to the special capabilities of each specific platform (of course), then I'd say both these features should be added ASAP.

A 'Tab counter' (how many opened tabs) could go as custom window title-bar text too, with user input code ...For the future.

The Tools menu disappears as soon as you switch to View mode, both in the Windows and Linux builds of 0.39.xnview wrote:Metadata submenu is in Tools menuSilversleeves wrote: This is a cropped screen shot of XnView 1.98.5 showing what I mean.
N.B: The linked image (post from 31 January) displays an image in View mode in the native Windows version of XnView. The menu and sub-menu are opened over it, again, in View mode.
The Edit menu, however, already exists in View mode in MP 0.39, which is why I suggested making the "Edit Metadata" sub-menu part of it rather than asking you to create a whole new menu, just for one function, in View mode. Copying the Windows-native version in this would take less time and effort, as I see it. Maybe I'm wrong?

...And please keep this discussion to another topic.
