I think XnView MP is going the All-in-one route of having everything and as well as the viewing and converting abilities, the new browser in XnView MP is has gotten more closer there' in terms of being good file manager replacement for most of the bog standard freeware file managers
I think in the MP browser, below the address bar, there could be some room for a Folder tab environment where folders of a users system can be opened in tabs.
There would be the 'New Tab' action and button (with Ctrl+T as hotkey) and drag n arrange tab capabilities just like the current browser/view tabs. Files and folders can be copied or moved between each tab with drag n drop support. There

=I made all toolbars and address bar dockable
= I used most of XYplorer's larger toolbar icons for better effect.
=I moved the folder tree beneath the toolbar and address bar
=I used Chrome's tabs although on this mock-up the visual is not as nice (the Chrome shape of the folder tabs)
In the above picture I took the main toolbar icons from XYplorer v8.900 and as you can see I used Chrome's tabs for the folder tabs. I only used Chrome's tabs in my mock-up so to tell the difference between folder tabs and the standard browser/viewer(s) tab. In fact I should have used rectangular rounded tabs similar to xnview win in that above mock-up picture. Still as you can see the folder tabs are at the bottom and would only display when the user is within the 'Browser' window. So the folder tabs are just a part of the 'Browser' window.
This might take a lot of work to do if taken on-board as a request. Still it's something to consider.
