I think XNView is a great app but it certainly could be improved for my application. I'm an animator. I deal in thousands of frames in each directory. When I go to open a current project directory, it has 4000 frames inside. I have XNView set to show file names and details... not thumbnails.
Why is XNView so slow to deal with all these files? Windows File Explorer will show the same list of 4000 files in seconds. XNView just hangs for eternity. It's just filenames... I just want to do some rename operations. I don't want to see thumbnails and if I look at any of the frames in the directory, it will just be a few so I don't need the entire folder cached or anything. Are there some settings in XNView that would make it operate at the speed of the standard Windows File Explorer?
Thanks!

Re: XNView Speedup?
This setting will improve speed by not retrieving information like width, height:
Options... Browser>File list>Misc>Scan file headers in folders [Never]
Options... Browser>File list>Misc>Scan file headers in folders [Never]
