Image file associations

I have had association of image files changed before, but now, it happened just after I updated Windows 7, so I suspect it happened all times for that reason.

In this case, I clicked on a jpg file, and it opened in Microsoft Photo Editor. I have now changed the association in XnView, and the file opens in XnView.

Is this "mysterious" change of association a know issue with Windows 7 or ...?

Grateful for tips.
