Hi!
I just got xnview, and it seems very usable to me.
I mostly need it to fully replace the built in Windows7 Photo-viewer, which is bugging me with constantly opening new windows of itself every time you double-click an image-file since day one.
However I have gotten pretty used to the zooming behavior of the Photo-viewer.
It Zooms with the Mouse-wheel (almost) infinite to where the Cursor is and it drags the picture with the left mouse.
In xnview I can drag the picture with the left mouse button, but when the picture reaches its native resolution, the mouse wheel turns from zooming to scrolling around, which is bad.
So how can I adjust this to my needs?
Greetings,
Gizzmo

Re: Mousewheel zoom turns into scrolling
Hi again.
I am almost positive I'm experiencing a bug in the zooming function here.
As long as you flick the mouse-wheel really fast, the picture continues scrolling in.
If you stop it and move it again, zooming is turned into scrolling.
This can't be right. Am I the only one with this issue?
I am on a Notebook with Windows7 x64, a Synaptics-Touchpad (driver v.14.0.3.27) and an external Logitech VX Nano (SetPoint 6.10.55).
Both devices show the same behavior in XnView 1.97.6 / 17 June 2010.
Greetings,
Gizzmo

Re: Mousewheel zoom turns into scrolling (BUG?)
Take a look in the options -> General -> Keyboard/Mouse.
I have the following mouse settings:
Left Button: Make Selection
Right Button: Move Picture
Mouse Wheel: Previous/Next File
Left Button use in selection: Move selection
Now I can scroll through the pictures with the mousewheel and I when I push the right mouse button I can use the mousewheel for zooming.
Right button alone to move the picture.
I had problems in the past with the behaviour of the mousewheel in xnview too. For me it was the tool katmouse.exe which causes the problems. I use this tool because of the damn Logitech mouse drivers are not able to auto catch a frame for scrolling e.g. explorer. Luckily you can switch of katmouse automatic only for different programs.

Re: Mousewheel zoom turns into scrolling (BUG?)
You're absolutely right, thank you
I have katmouse installed too, but totally forgot about it, since it's working so nice and quiet in the background.
Now I have set xnview.exe to "ignore" and my mouse-wheel is finally working like it's supposed to

Yes, this way is the best and should be used by default IMHO, but it doesn't work vice versa (wheel to zoom and right button+wheel to switch images).montu wrote:Now I can scroll through the pictures with the mousewheel and I when I push the right mouse button I can use the mousewheel for zooming.

What exactly? I'm using the HotkeyP, great tool for both, mouse and keyboard.montu wrote:I had problems in the past with the behaviour of the mousewhell in xnview too. @gizzmo
I'm glad that I could help you!
I noticed problems with Katmouse in other graphic programms too, e.g. Paint Shop Pro and Neat Image. But in Katmouse you can define different settings for different programms, also you can complete switch off Katmouse for different programms and so there is no problem if you have a programm Katmouse don't work with. I wouldn't surrender of Katmouse anymore.
If someone would take a look to the great Katmouse, here you can find it:

I never try the vice versa thing because I think it's perfect how it is.Dreamer wrote:Yes, this way is the best and should be used by default IMHO, but it doesn't work vice versa (wheel to zoom and right button+wheel to switch images).montu wrote:Now I can scroll through the pictures with the mousewheel and I when I push the right mouse button I can use the mousewheel for zooming.

When I use a Logitech Mouse with the original Logitech Setpoint Driver I have exact the same issue then Gizzmo. With Katmouse on and with a new started xnview I can zoom with the Mousewheel to the native resolution and when 100% are reached the Mousewheel function jumps to "Scroll Up/Down".Dreamer wrote:What exactly?
