REQ: Effect 'Drop Shadow' should not crop image
Hi,
About "Drop Shadow", just a little whish...
Is it possible to improve that feature, in order to get a real resizing of the "pic" part, instead to crop it ?

Complicated---

• It'ld be great, indeed ! However, I suppose that it might be so complicated to implement - if it's possible -.Is it possible to improve that feature, in order to get a real resizing of the "pic" part, instead to crop it ?
- The operation could be long… But if this must be applied to an already existing pic having such an effect, it could be interesting. It's worth to wait for a dozen of seconds if necessary.
- Currently, to keep the intact picture while applying that effect should need to prepar the pic, as pasted in a larger empty one, in order to get sufficiently wide margins

- Unfortunately, that doesn't work… Instead to expand the shade onto the empty margins, the program ignores them and crops the useful pic part still, like you can see here.
The margins (as white) are not used…

Not exactly…

• Not exactly… Indeed, the pic area is no longer cropped, but the image-size is enlarged a lot…This has been fixed in RC6.
- Pierre applied the workaround I tried above - unsuccessfully -, so it results that the processed pic has a changed size.
- The Paul's original request was to resize the pic itself first in order to apply that effect, keeping the original size.
- One case where the new behaviour is annoying :
• If you need to add a shaded pic as a new frame into an existing animated GIF, you can't directly, or else the whole frames get false sizes, and the animation turns ugly.
• You might resize the supplemental frame by hand first, but it's quasi-impossible to get exactly the same size than the other original frames…
- I encountered that issue to update my French Help; I resigned to add such a frame, and added another pic beside the GIF to show the new shade-effect…

The lasy way---

- The try I did -adding margins- was not a suggestion to solve the problem, but only a test to see if the lack of margins caused the image-cropping…
- It seems that Pierre has considered that as a proposal; it's a misunderstanding. Whether a larger size doesn't matter, one could say that the issue is solved; but in the opposite case, it is not solved at all…

No for me it's solved, i can't make better the drop shadow, i need some space around picture...Clo wrote: - The try I did -adding margins- was not a suggestion to solve the problem, but only a test to see if the lack of margins caused the image-cropping…

Pierre.
Shaky…

- This results in a shaky feature… The Paul's request was to keep the original size.
1. Resize the pic - that frees margins-,
2. Create the shade…

Oh sorry, only resize picture before to add shadows??Clo wrote:- This results in a shaky feature… The Paul's request was to keep the original size.

Simply---

- Yes, absolutely ! It was the request, if possible. In many cases it's mandatory to keep the image-size (I quoted a case above, but others can occur, i. e. when a certain picture must fit just at a limited location on a Web-page, etc.)Oh sorry, only resize picture before to add shadows??
- Like I said already, the addition of margins works properly, but resizing is often needed and better.
- Finally, what about both ways as option? That should add a nice feature and a supplemental advantage to the program !

Wha !!! Nice !

- Thanks ! Both options work now in RC7 !!!
A “plus” for the program !
