Capture - Multicapture crash Vista

Post by Shaun »

Hello, I have an issue with Windows Vista and XNView's Multicapture.
If I set it up to do a multi capture, it crashes after the first or second capture.
It seems random but most of the time it crashes the first time.

I have Windows Vista 32-bit.
I have tried a few different versions of XNView including the 1.96 beta and I get the same results. I thought it may have been my Multiple Monitors, however I undocked it and rebooted and it still happens.

The setup is this:
-I launch XNview
-I select Capture
-I select Active Window
-I select Hot key as a method and leave F10 as the key
-I select Client area
-I leave Hide XnView selected
-I select Include mouse cursor
-I select Multiple capture
-I click ok, and XnView minimizes
-I hit F10 and Vista tells me XnView has crashed

Any ideas?
Shaun

I cannot reproduce this bug in XnView 1.96 beta 3 so it may have been fixed already.
AMD Ryzen 3 3300X 3.8Ghz, 16Gb DDR4, RX6600XT with Dell U2520D at 2560x1440@60Hz scaling 125%

Beta 3

Post by Shaun »

I tried it with Beta 3 and it still happens.

Is there a config/ini file that might be sticking around that I would need to delete?

XnView INI can be stored in any of the following...

C:\Program Files\XnView
C:\Program Files (x86)\XnView
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\XnView

Can't remember the XP one for data storage.

I can't reproduce on vista

Cleaned out my cache and xnview files, still no go.

I cleaned out my xnview cache and tried Beta 3 again, I still get the problem.
It takes the first screenshot fine, but if I try to take more than one, I get:

I tried it on a co-worker's Vista machine and it works. His machine has the same install of Vista with the same apps. I must have a file somewhere that is screwing it up.

Just on chance, what is your version of ntdll.dll?
From the error, it want's to have an issue with ntdll.dll...

another crash

Post by XO »

Hi I'm using XNVIEW in a new PC, with Vista SP 1, and I get a crash message (sometimes) when I double click on an image file.

Any idea to solve it?

I have a request from a German user, here. When capturing screens on Windows Vista, XnView occassionally crashes. There seems to be a problem, still.
