Cannot modified IPTC data in Win 7

OK, I think this is weird.
I used XnView to add caption in pictures successfully before. Later when I tried to modify the caption through XnView, I couldn't save the data (i.e. click "Write" button, the caption changes to its original value).

I used Exifer to modify the same picture on PC (Window 7). No problem.

I tried XnView again in another laptop (Win XP SP3). No problem either.

Does anyone have any idea about what's wrong?

Yes, it's the same version of XnView.

Actually I used the different version in the beginning. When I had the problem of modifying IPTC data, I first installed the latest XnView but that didn't help. I uninstalled the old one and reinstalled the latest version. Still didn't help.

BTW, it's my own PC so I can fully access these files and programs.
