ok but what about my last comment (Only problem I see is thumbnails not being rotated in browser, until their folder was deleted from cache then added again)? is it just me? Should I make a new topic for this?

Yes ok, although it looks fairly safe to me. There's no reason why XnView should take time creating thumbnails, instead of just using the embedded ones.

I can confirm this problem. Could you please make a new topic?

Agreed. Let's see what Pierre says and decides.

Yes, I also found a sensibly speed-up, but there must be a drastically speed-up.
Pierre announced a 10 times faster thumbnail reading speed.
Unfortunately I can't confirm this advantage. :(
My quick tests with 80-100 image folders showed considerable gain in speed, eg:
embedded: 162 seconds
not embedded: 7-8 seconds
It's not 10x faster though I guess that it depends a lot on file size, and on how many files are to be processed.

PS. I tested as follows:
1 clean cache and check "use embedded"
2 enter a folder, time, leave folder
3 clean cache and uncheck "use embedded"
4 enter the same folder and time
5 repeat 1 2 3 4 with an other folder
Note that test folders should contain only jpeg's with thumbnails embedded in them, obviously.

I've corrected the quoted post some minutes ago!

Yes, it's nearly 10 times faster - checked it with 331 JPEGs, each approx. 2 MB.

So everything works fine with embedded thumbnails! :D

Ok in RC3. EXIF autorotation is active by default, now (=standard setting).

Option "Use Embedded Thumbnails" is not active by default - I'll start a new topic for this one.
