Batch update/edit IPTC EXIF

Post by mrwul »

Will XnView be able to batch update IPTC/EXIF fields some time in future ?

TIA
=
p.s. found some other freeware that can do this, the FAQ of that software says:

Q: How to change JPG IPTC/Comment data for many images (batch mode)?
A: In the Thumbnails window, select many JPG images/files and use the menu JPG Lossless Operations à Set IPTC data/Comment to selected thumbs. The data for the first image is applied to all files. The IPTC dialog offers additional options.

But, pls appreciate... I donot want to any other other photo-software anymore!
So I am crossing my fingers it'll be in XnView some day

IPTC is not quite my area, but I'll try to answer:

For all I know and see you can batch edit IPTC data in XnView, already:
1. Select several images
2. Select menu Edit > Metadata > Edit IPTC data (or shortcut Ctrl+I)
3. Make your edits as desired.
4. Choose button "Write all selected" to write the IPTC data in all selected image files.

Please note that there's various radiobuttons and checkboxes which allows for combining the new IPTC data with existing IPTC data or overwriting it.

In "real" Batch Processing (Tools > Batch processing) there are no IPTC operations available, though.
