1 bit (B/W) tiff problem with XnView 1.97.8

I've got some tiff files generated by a multifunction copier/scanner/printer (Olivetti d-copia 4051MF) that can't be managed correctly by XnView 1.97.8 (and even 1.97.7).

Maybe it's something wrong on the copier (some exotic compression schemes?) but XnView can show only "n-1" pages of a "n" pages tiff: the last page is broken (empty or full black) and if the tiff has only 1 page (I mean, it is not a multipage tiff) it can't show at all.
Other softwares have similar problems (for example The Gimp can't handle them), while others can manage the files correctly (for example Irfanview).

Maybe ... is it a problem related to patents?

I couldn't find anything on the forum.

I can provide samples files (but I dont know how to publish them on this forum).
