XnView is being developed by an independent programmer who makes his software available as freeware for personal use. Are you sure you want to eradicate even the slightest indication of what software you were using to send a photo? Take a look at the headers of messages you receive: Just about every e-mail client puts its signature in the X-Mailer, X-MimeOLE or X-Newsreader field.

I disagree:
Self advertisement by default is soso or even o.k., but if a user does not want this advertisement, he/she should be able to disable it in some way.

Imagine this szenario: Graphic design company X uses XnView in a professional context (naturally, licences have been purchased) and regularly sends out image files to customers. Should all their customers really receive a "Sent by XnView" advertisement? I think "No.".

You think it's even too much to ask from a freeware user to think twice, whether it's absolutely necessary to remove that link? After all, we're not talking about aggressive marketing tactics through obtrusive watermarks, annoying nag screens or hidden ads.

Sure, it's a whole different ballgame with paying customers. They shouldn't be bothered with the “This page was generated with XnView” footer on their HTML galleries or the “Sent by XnView” signature in their e-mail.
