I often need to know the number of images in a folder.
Where is that information. It should be explicit before I open the folder.

It is possible to see the nr of files in a folder if I open in browser mode.
The nr is on the status row. Yet this is inconvenient
I would like to see the nur of images without opening the folder

The folder thumb label would be the perfect place for this.
I have suggested in the past that XnView implement "conditional" thumb labels, where the fields of the thumb label could be defined separately for each file type if the user desired.
One such filetype would be "folder". The sorts of things I might want to see in a folder label could include:

- # files in subfolder tree
# files in subfolder tree for specific file types (ie. count of JPGs)
# of subfolders
Size of entire subfolder tree
Date of oldest file in subfolder tree
Date of newest file in subfolder tree
Average file size in subfolder tree
