Video thumbnails not shown with picture icon

When I look at my video thumbnails, I have not a clue what it contains since there is no icon picture
I noticed a preview pane but that would be unnecessar, since
XnView shows picturized thumbnails for pictures so why not for videos ?
Compare to Windows Photo Gallery where a miniature picture is always shown on both pictures and videos

Video thumbnails are supported. Please check your settings in menu Tools > Options | Browser > File list | Activated checkbox for "Video files" in column "Thumbnails".

Irrespective of format, there is no icon. Yes, it is played by XnView.

Try with an empty 'xnview.ini' file.

XnView is too tricky. I am now using Windows PhotoGallery. That too would need a lot of improvement but still more simple to use than XnView.
